Why New Song Farm

Psalm 96:1 ESV

Oh sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth!

My ears always perk up when I hear about the Lord doing something new. Mainly because I love seeing God work. DC Talk sang a song called Nu Thang. (I know, I just dated myself!) It was one of those songs that can stick in your brain. But it was an encouragement. An encouragement because I (Karen) was chronically ill with what I thought was Chronic Fatigue Syndrome but later found out it was Chronic Lyme. Being constantly fatigued can be incredibly discouraging. So hearing that the Lord will do a new thing made my heart be encouraged. During my many years of illness I found gardening to be my mental health therapy. I could work at it piecemeal, it got me out into the sun and was rewarding with the production of vegetables, fruit, and flowers. Plus, I love music. So when I garden I always have KLOVE on while out planting, pulling weeds, pruning or harvesting.

Fast forward a number of years and I find myself feeling better. But not well enough to maintain a job away from home. Needing an income to supplement retirement we have decided on producing off of our land. There are already wonderful farms in our area producing and selling vegetables. Cut flower farming peaked my interest. It went right along with what I was already doing every planting season. So New Song Farm was created. And Bob, the Director of Digging, was thrilled.

And I sing a new song to the Lord in appreciation for this new adventure.
